Toddler Girl Clothing Must Be Durable and Comfortable
It was appropriate and fun dressing your baby girl in frills and fancy little dresses. Unfortunately this is not very practical when your baby reaches the toddler stage. Now you should be thinking of functional clothing. Clothing that will allow your little girl the freedom to crawl, learn to walk and eventually climb, run and tumble. Toddler clothes should be easy to get on and off as during this stage not only will most little girls go through the potty training phase, they will also start wanting to dress themselves.
Toddler girl clothing must be comfortable and durable. You should be able to relax and let your toddler girl explore things without the stress of fancy clothes that cost a fortune and must be kept clean and tidy at all costs. This exploration stage is an important learning phase during which your little girl needs to develop a lot of skills that will stand her in good stead throughout her childhood. During the toddler years your little girl will learn to feed herself, dress herself and help herself with a toilet routine. You are going to need clothes that will help her to master these skills and stand up to all the spoils. It is recommended that all her clothing should be machine washable and winter clothes should preferably be suitable for tumble drying.
It is a given that your little girl will have a party dress or two. If your little girl looks particularly sweet in pastel colors limit these to the party outfits. Choose practical colors for play wear for your little girl. Patterned fabric tends not to show up the odd mark or two whereas stains are almost accentuated on solid color garments. When selecting solid color garments bright reds, greens and blues are more practical than the softer hues. Pastel colors in sleep wear should be fine as most toddlers fall asleep shortly after bath time and therefore these clothes are usually not subjected to the same amount of wear and tear as day clothes.
When it comes to sizing make sure that you buy the correct size. Buying to last more than one season is just not worth it. Over-sized clothing never looks good on a toddler and inhibits play. There is no guarantee either that the clothing will fit properly when the next season comes round. Buying toddler clothing that is made with a stretch fabric makes more sense. This means that clothing that fit snugly will stretch as your toddler grows and most of this clothing will fit your little girl for an entire season.
If you are planning on potty training your little girl during the season make sure that all clothing can be put on and more importantly taken off quickly and with ease. Avoid one-piece clothing that buttons at the crotch during the potty training period. Look for pants with elasticized waists as this will make potty training easier for both you and your little girl.
As you approach the age when your little girl will want to dress herself make sure that you choose clothing that will make this easier for her to master. It is a big challenge for little hands and small things can make a big difference as to how well they cope. Shoes with velcro fastening instead of laces, necklines with rib knits that slip over the little heads easily and as mentioned before pants with elastic in the waist can all make dressing much more fun and less of a battle.

| | The Knitting Sutra $15.99 "The purpose of meditation is to quiet the mind so that it can sink down into contemplation of its true nature. You cannot stop your mind by an act of will any more than you can stop the beating of your own heart. Some cultures describe mind as a drunken monkey, reeling from place to place with no rhyme or reason. Like meditation/ knitting calms the monkey down….I believe that in the quiet/ repetitive, hypnotic rhythms of creating craft, the inner being may emerge in all its quiet beauty. The very rhythm, of the knitting needles can become as incantatory as a drumbeat or a Gregorian chant.". — from The knitting Sutra. Knitting as prayer? Craft as spiritual path? In this wonderfully allusive story of the quest to master a craft, Susan Gordon Lydon's love of knitting and her search for spiritual insight become powerfully and lyrically intertwined. Lydon's journey begins when she knits a turquoise chenille sweater to help a broken bone in her arm "knit." In pursuit of a perfect silver button for her sweater — and a medicine man for her arm — she ends up on a Navajo reservation where a community of women live by the proceeds of their craft in a unified cycle of livelihood, art, and spirituality. They remind Lydon of the women on the Shetland Islands who developed classic knitting patterns and of the women who gather at her local yarn shop. From old-fashioned quilting bees to the hundreds of knitters who communicate on the Internet, she recognizes in craftspeople the confluence of self, community, creativity, ritual, and the urge to beautify the everyday. Each new knitting project she begins and every new skill she masters bring her closer to serenity and insight that have sometimes eluded her through years of spiritual explorations. In one passage, her arm healed and her passion for knitting rekindled, Lydon finds herself selling old books and clothes to buy a particularly extravagant yarn. The red sweater it becomes represents the lesso |

| | The Art of Knitting $31.98 A unique, visually inspiring, all-color survey of knitted textile designs and patterns. Françoise Tellier-Loumagne has taught textile and knit design in France for more than thirty years. Drawing on her experience as teacher and practitioner, she has assembled a creative and inventive overview of stitches and fabrics, both hand-knitted and machine-made, presenting hundreds of sumptuous ways of working with yarn, from silk thread to Shetland wool. The book is organized by fabric types: simple knits, jacquards, fine jersey knits, interlock, open-work, and many others. It covers hand knitting, domestic machine knitting, and industrial knitting, explaining the relevant techniques and notation for each. Every type of stitch that she describes is accompanied by enlarged photos of the textiles, detailed diagrams, and written instructions. The yarns used here are highly textural and attractive, which further encourages experimentation with yarn combinations and knitting techniques.
